The construction sector has seen a sharp decrease in activity over the course of the last six years. In 2006 construction activity in Ireland was valued at €38.631 billion. Since the downturn in the Irish economy that level of activity has dropped year on year, falling to approximately €9.12 billion in 2011.
While the activity figures for 2012 are still to be finalised, the CIF is expecting to see a further decrease in activity.
