Featured Project: Leopardstown Link Road and Roundabout Reconfiguration Project, Clonmel Enterprise Ltd.

03 Aug 2016

The latest featured project comes from Clonmel Enterprises Ltd. They undertook to remove the existing Leopardstown Roundabout, Dublin 18, and replaced it with a new signalised junction, vastly improving traffic flow in the area. The works commenced in November 2014, with the construction of a new link road to provide a new access to the South County Business Park making commuting to work much faster for the many employees of the Park. The new access road will also increase capacity and allow for future expansion of the Park.

Once construction of the new link road was complete in April 2016, the existing access onto the roundabout from the Business Park was closed and the removal of the roundabout commenced. The existing roundabout was removed in phases and the new signalised junction constructed. In order to facilitate this project, complex temporary traffic management was required to ensure the traffic moved freely through the works and that access to the Leopardstown Racecourse and South County Business Park were maintained at all times.

Another aim of this project was to increase the safety of pedestrian and cyclist facilities in the area. This was achieved by constructing new footpaths and off road cycle tracks on all approaches to the new junction and along the new link road.
