This week’s project is in County Clare, on the ESB Moneypoint Power Station.
The Laydex Roofing devision were tasked with putting together a high end SBS specification for the overlay and waterproofing of the approximately 8000m2 Ardnacrusha Power Station.
Repair works and overlay of the turbine and bunker bay roofs were carried out by main contractor Brian Conneely & Co Ltd and sub-contractor Curry Asphalt Roofing from October last year until March 2016.
The chosen products for the works were Pluvitec underlay tech Millenium which is a pre-fabricated waterproofing membrane made of distilled bitumen and elastomeric polymers, reinforced with a woven non-woven polypropylene finish which improves the walk ability and allows for immediate coating. Also used was Pluvitec Tech 1000 and Plustec red mineral cap sheet for the walkway.
Advantages of the use of these products include, improved aesthetics, improved walkability, easier to coat, time saving, increased tear resistence, less deformation and ease of application.
Laydex also completed phase 1 of the roofing on the new 220k V ESB substation project in Dublin and have been awarded phase 2 based on the successful completion and sign off of phase 1.
