It is an exciting time for those entering the Construction Industry, with demand for skilled workers on the increase, competitive salaries and packages on the rise and the opportunity to work in on challenging and innovative projects increasing by the day.
Last year alone saw over €8 billions’ worth of construction projects moving on site in Ireland and there are projects to the tune of €19 billion in the pipeline.
According to a recent economic report by DKM, the industry looks set to experience growth up to 2020, which has the potential to create the demand for over 112,000 extra workers in the industry.
Over the last number of months many Irish people who had been living abroad have made the decision to return home, thanks to increasing opportunities and benefits here.
Late last year, the Construction Industry Federation launched CIFjobs.ie a resource to connect members of the diaspora thinking of returning to Ireland, with leading construction companies here, who are looking for skilled employees.
So far we have had a number of success stories and huge interest from both employees and employers alike.
There is currently a very broad range of professions and trades in demand at all levels from senior professionals to graduates in the Irish Construction Industry and this is being reflected in the jobs posted on CIFjobs.ie
All of the main professions are being sought: engineers, surveyors, architectural technicians, and we have all the trades: carpenters, plasterers, bricklayers, electricians and plumbers.
The DKM Demand for Skills report estimates the Irish construction industry will require the following up to 2020:
- 9,600 Managers
- 8,700 Professionals and Associate Professionals
- 15,200 Electricians
- 7,800 Bricklayers
- 11,800 Plumbers
- 30,800 Carpenters and Joiners
- 13,900 Plasters/Floor and Tilers
- 9,400 Painters and Decorators
- 9,600 Managers
- 18,100 Operatives
- 27,600 General labourers
