Blog: Make wishes come true this Christmas

06 Nov 2017

Marjut Ellis, Corporate Fundraising Officer with Make-A-Wish Ireland, outlines how you and your company can help make wishes come true this Christmas for children living with life threatening illnesses.

This Christmas, Make-A-Wish is appealing to Irish businesses to support our Corporate Appeal, we urgently need to raise €100,000 before the end of 2017. Make-A-Wish Ireland is celebrating 25 years of granting wishes to children living with life threatening illnesses. As a national charity granting wishes to families from every county in Ireland each year, the experience of a wish provides sick children and their families with memories that will last many lifetimes.

However, unlike many other charities, Make-A-Wish receives no government funding at all and must fundraise every cent to allow us to carry out our mission. A wish is magical experience not just for the child but also for their parents, siblings and wider community, it is very often the first and only time that a family will be able to have this experience as a unit.

You can help children like Ruby, age four, who really wished for her own garden den – somewhere she could invite friends, play with her toys, hold her teddy bear tea parties and relax when she gets tired.

So this year, instead of corporate Christmas cards or gifts, make a gift that will have an impact on the future of a family not just this Christmas but for many years to come. Your support is greatly appreciated and will help us create special memories that stay with our wish children and their families forever, like Ruby’s Wish.

Partnering with Make-A-Wish really boosts your Corporate Social Responsibility strategy. It increases brand positivity, helps you stand out from the competitors and increases staff morale and loyalty.

Make-A-Wish is a small organisation, we keep our staff to a minimum to ensure that our donations are used for granting wishes. Our corporate team is here to support you run your office or corporate event and can provide you with posters, balloons, collection buckets as well as images and testimonies from recent wish children.

Gareth Crowe and I are here to assist your company to raise vital and much needed funds that will create memories that last many lifetimes across Ireland.
