Following on from last year’s successful social dinner, the CIF South East Branch will be hosting our Construction Dinner once again this year.
The event is taking place in the Tower Hotel, Waterford on Friday the 9th of February 7:15pm. This event is the largest social event in the region for the construction industry. Attendees at this event will include stakeholders from all areas of the Construction Industry.
Steve Redmond famously known for being the first person in the world to successfully complete the epic Oceans Seven Challenge is our after dinner speaker. Having retired from the professional rugby scene, Steve Redmond became heavily involved in triathlon completing the Lanzarote Ironman in 2008. This saw him progress naturally to longer distance events where in 2009 Steve completed the English Channel in 20 hours.
Musician Scott Newman will provide the musical entertainment on the night. Scott is a professional pianist and vocalist and has performed on RTE’s – The Late Late Show, BBC TV / Radio, 2FM, 104FM.
Waterford Hospice will be launching their Buy A Brick campaign to help fund their new facility in University Hospital Waterford at the event. Waterford Hospice was founded in 1988 with the purpose of delivering Palliative Care on a Home Care basis to those in need. Not all families are in a position to care for their loved ones at home during the final period of their lives. Recognising this situation Waterford Hospice have been seeking the provision of a dedicated Hospice for the last 20 years.
In 2016 the HSE confirmed a start date for the development of a 5-storey Regional Palliative Care unit on the grounds of University Hospital Waterford (UHW) which will include a Hospice unit on the first two floors
The charities major fundraising effort in the next two years is their BUY A BRICK CAMPAIGN. Part of the building will be finished in brick and they estimate that 150,000 bricks will be required. In order that people can identify with the project in a ‘concrete’ manner the charity are asking them to buy a brick.
