As part of the #BuildingEquality 2018 Campaign, Elizabeth Kavanagh of Stride Treglown shares her story as a woman in construction.
I work for a Top 10 architects practice, I joined 14 years ago when I setup our HR team as I was excited by the challenge.
Throughout my time at Strides I have been mentored and had role models, not all female but people that I admire and seek to emulate or learn from. The influence and support of those role models have helped me progress and enjoy my journey.
In particular my mentor has helped me to stretch myself to develop our HR strategy and helped me think creatively about how to use my coaching skills best within the industry.
Attracting more women and girls is a matter of opening up and showcasing the exciting and varied opportunities we have in construction and enabling one and all to play with the options to see what suits them best.
