I am proud to work in a firm that promotes equality, gender balance and inclusivity with real intent. We are a leading commercial law firm, with a deep footprint on the construction landscape. The Philip Lee Construction and Procurement team has 50/50 gender balance. As HR Manager for the firm, part of my role is to promote and maintain this gender balance.
Collectively, our teams have advised public and private bodies on over 200 major construction projects, among which are some of the largest infrastructure projects undertaken in Ireland. Gender does not cloud our judgement when recruiting for these teams. Gender does not interfere with the work that we do on these projects.
As a whole, the firm is predominately female, accounting for 59% of total staff. We strive to achieve balance across all of our teams, including hiring male support staff at administration level which is not common in the corporate environment in which we operate.
Through our Client Listening Programme, our clients tell us that our policies in relation to inclusion and diversity are recognised and appreciated. This is important recognition of the work that we do in this area.
We take a holistic approach to developing the culture of the firm, advocating employee wellbeing, corporate social responsibility and placing high priority on sustainability. We encourage our people to participate in the dedicated committees set up to run bespoke programmes in these areas. This goes hand in hand with our commitment to developing a workplace with our people at the centre, ensuring that they feel equal, included and respected at all levels.
