#BuildingEquality – Sharing Your Stories: Kim Jordan

As part of the #BuildingEquality Campaign, Kim Jordan, Design Manager with Crown Roofing & Cladding Ltd shares her story.

I was extremely lucky in my school days to have had very strong, influential mentors around me who noticed a talent in me for Design and Problem Solving. With their help, as a very average student, through determination and a PLC course after school, eventually I got the golden ticket onto an Honours Degree in Architectural Technology, DIT, Bolton Street. Graduating with a First Class Honours Degree, I knew the Construction Industry was the career for me. It was in my DNA.

I went on to study Project Management and am currently as Part-Time student at TU Dublin on the B.Sc Hons in BIM.

Having spent time in various pratices post graduation, I found the gem that is my current workplace; Crown Roofing & Cladding. CRL is a forward thinking, hands on progressive company who have supported me all the way to Design Manager with a team of 6 other Designers. Our core values perfectly align, and I will forever be thankful for having found a career path that feeds my soul and will forever keep me hungry for more.

I have begun some part time teaching assistant work at TU Dublin on the couree I originally studied and it is fantastic to see a more even ratio of men and women. While men and women bring completely different traits to a Construction project, together, collaboratively, we are creating some amazing Architecture with award winning buildings. Together we are stronger!
