The CIF issued a stark warning: “As an employer, the equation is simple: if the SOP & BTWIF guidance is not followed by employees, they are at risk and our understanding is that construction sites will be shut down again.”

The CIF letter notes that before the construction industry was shut down, “… images of crowded sites and employees in high viz not maintaining physical distancing, effectively made it impossible for the Government to keep sites open.” Read the full article here. 

Irish Times

The Irish Times reported that construction will resume on social housing projects. “The work can only be carried out where it is safe to do so and any company requested to complete works should adopt the CIF’s new standard operating procedure and every employee should undergo the CIF’s Covid compliance induction programme, ” according to a CIF spokesman. “The new standard operating procedure for construction has been developed by the CIF in consultation with major contractors, FDI clients and international experts and benchmarked against documents in the UK and Europe. Parlon says that the new document will introduce a “very very strict protocol” which goes beyond HSE guidelines.”  The Irish Times covered the latest release from the CIF and can be read on the Irish Times website.
