DESCRIPTION:Construction Safety Month is a national awareness campaign aimed at promoting positive safety and health amongst Ireland’s 159\,000+ construction workers\, clients and industry stakeholders. \nThe goal is to generate engagement amongst CIF members and non-members alike\, to further promote a culture of safety\, health and wellbeing in construction. The theme for Health and Safety Month 2023 is Critical Risk #cifsafety23 #criticalrisk23. \nAs part of Construction Safety Month the CIF Southern Region are running a number of free in-person presentations for our members across the Southern Region. \nSpeaker Profile:\n\nBrian Molloy\, Inspector\, Health & Safety Authority (HSA) \nBrian Molloy has recently rejoined the Construction Inspection unit in the HSA having worked for the with the Enterprise and Employee Support Unit of the Health and Safety Authority since 2011. \nBrian joined the HSA as an inspector in 2006 and is a Chartered Member of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health. \nBrian has led the development and promotion of BeSMART.ie for the construction sector which includes 39 business types including the Project Supervisor Construction Stage (PSCS) business type along with additional resources for the sector such as the construction site traffic management plan and tool box talks. \nIn his presentation Brian will cover: \n\nHSA Strategy & Plan of Work . (What topics HSA Inspectors will be focusing on when visiting construction sites in the coming months).\nA quick overview of recent prosecutions\, accidents statistics and costs.\nInitiatives that the HSA has developed to help business comply with health and safety regulations Including:\n\nBeSMART.ie\, a free online that gives you the tools to prepare your own construction site specific safety statement or construction stage safety and health plan and risk assessments for your site(s) online completely\nFREE of charge.\nRisk Assessment Method Statement (RAMS) Guidance Document\nHSA learning (The HSA’s online portal for free health and safety courses online.\n\n\nThe role of Safety Reps.\nQ&A Session\n\n\nCPD Points:\nThose who attend the briefing will be eligible to claim 1 Structured CPD point under the CIRI CPD requirements. \n\nRegistration:\nThis briefing is open to all CIF members but is particularly suited to members who are \n\nOwner/Managers of small and medium businesses.\nSafety Mangers.\nSite Managers.\n\n  \n\nWhile this event is free to attend\, we ask members to please contact Bríd Cody on cifcork@cif.ie to reserve your places or call 021-4351410.
