EPA Briefing on C&D Waste Management

24 Feb 2022

The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) have made recent changes to the structure of their offices on environmental sustainability with a more streamlined focus on the circular economy, including the processing of article 27 & 28 notifications.

The EPA have also upgraded to a new online by-product notification system called EDEN to handle all by-product notifications going forward. The new system should streamline the process for notifiers who will now be able to see in real time the status of their application.

Additionally, the “Best Practice Guidelines on the Preparation of Resource & Waste Management Plans for Construction and Demolition Projects” have recently been revised (Previous version was 2006). The guidelines highlight best practice in the prevention and management of C&D Wastes and resources from design through to construction and deconstruction.

Yesterday, 23rd February, CIF hosted an in-person member briefing in Construction House to discuss the above measures with Senior EPA Inspector Caitriona Collins presenting to those in attendance.

The CIF Southern Region held an online briefing, outlining same, on Tuesday, 22nd February.
