The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) would like to thank our members for your support and commitment to the federation this year.
The continued participation of our valued members and associations is pivotal in enabling us to effectively represent the industry, facilitating the successful delivery of crucial policies to support a viable construction industry.
We are looking forward to working hard on your behalf in 2024. We are currently conducting a strategic review of the Federation to optimise the delivery of our member services. Our continued engagement with stakeholders in relation to planning, contract reform, regulatory requirements, project pipeline and delivery will continue. Emphasising the importance of National Development Plan implementation and a pipeline of shovel-ready construction projects remains at the forefront of our agenda.
The Construction Industry Register Ireland (CIRI) Admissions and Registration Board will commence its work on the categorisation of industry sectors for first registration under statutory CIRI, which is projected to commence at some stage in 2025. As the registration body, CIF will actively support the CIRI Admissions and Registration Board in its work programme and keep members updated on the proposed registration process.
In the coming year, a comprehensive review of the National Planning Framework will take place, which will ultimately impact national infrastructural and residential development. The viability of construction projects, due to rising costs, continues to challenge our members and is an area of continued focus for the Federation.
Our industry remains committed to innovation, leveraging modern construction methods and digitalisation for enhanced efficiency and we prioritise sustainability. We will actively continue to develop industry policies pertaining to ESG and off-site construction as we move forward.
We look forward to collaborating with you throughout 2024. Together, we will foster growth, progress, and the success of the construction industry, which is so integral to building a thriving society.
I wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year.
Hubert Fitzpatrick
