25 Mar 2026

The Cork Branch Dinner and Golf Outing took place on Friday 20th March, at Fota Island Resort Hotel, Co. Cork. There were over 300 guests in attendance.

CIF Cork Golf Classic 2026

44 golfers took on the CIF Cork Golf Classic at the iconic Fota Island Golf Club. The Golf Classic returned for the first time in many years resurrecting the historic Murphy Perpetual Cup with the first engraving dating back to 1943 when the CIF was known as the Federation of Builders and Allied Employers. The cup was named in honour of Jerh Murphy Esq and the first winner of the cup was R B Barry.

With the sun in the sky and the warmest day of the year so far on the cards, anticipation for the event was building from early morning. Participants were treated to tea, coffee and a breakfast bap on arrival and a fantastic goodie bag kindly supplied by the event sponsors Unilin.

The conditions were perfect for golfers, both seasoned veterans and casual golfers could enjoy the wonderful weather and picturesque course no matter how good or bad the golf was.

CIF Cork Construction Dinner

Following the golf was the annual dinner, hosted by CIF Cork Branch Chairperson Patsy Supple. The annual dinner continues to be one of the most significant gatherings for the construction industry in the region, offering exceptional opportunities to network with key stakeholders, industry leaders, and colleagues throughout the day and evening.

Patsy Supple delivered a thoughtful address, highlighting both the challenges ahead and the need to attract more young people into construction, while scaling delivery to meet Ireland’s housing and infrastructure needs.

Among the 300 attendees, including CIF members and stakeholders, were CIF CEO Andrew Brownlee and keynote speaker Sean O’Driscoll, Chair of the Infrastructure Delivery Taskforce. Sean O’Driscoll shared insights on the Accelerating Infrastructure Taskforce and the role the industry will play in delivering the next phase of Ireland’s development. Sean’s message was simple, we can’t solve the housing crisis without solving the infrastructure crisis. The Taskforce has a defined plan with key actions on delivery which they are confident will be met within the timeframe allocated.

It was a successful evening marking Cork’s history and future of ambitious developments and celebrated by those who have so greatly contributed to their completion.

A great night overall, with comedian Reggie, Blackrock Road, bringing a bit of fun to round things off, and finishing with music from the energetic band, The Stars.
