Brodeen Engineering is a stainless steel and mild steel fabrication and installation company which specialises in the fabrication and installation of process pipe work in both stainless and carbon steel. Since our establishment in 2015, we have undertaken a wide range of factory overhaul assignments, heavy lift installation tasks, Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel projects in Ireland and Europe.

Throughout the 2 weeks we will be delivering a series of initiatives to highlight the critical risks. We are delighted to participate and contribute to the promotion of improved health and safety within the industry. As part of our commitment, we plan to take the following steps during the campaign:

At M&N Civil Engineering Ltd we pay a lot of attention to Health & Safety. We will be organising activities in an effort to enhance safety, reinforce key safety messages and the importance of health and safety in our work, and promote safer ways of working amongst employees and our project delivery teams.

The focus of this year’s campaign is Mental Health and Wellbeing and ‘Critical Risks’ such as Lifting Operations; Working at Heights; Excavations; Plant, Tools & Equipment; Slips, Trips & Falls.

John Murray & Sons will incorporate the Construction Safety 2024 theme of managing critical risks to emphasise the company’s commitment to providing a secure working environment through a robust safety management system for employees, subcontractors, and visitors. We will communicate this message through various channels, including in-person TBTs, as well as WhatsApp and email messaging.

At Vision Built, we will be running a series of events for our employees and contractors including focusing on two of our VB 10 High Risk activities (Machine Safety and Excavations), as well as conducting first aid refreshers.

We will also be using the time to remind our teams of the Lighthouse Charity and promote the Movember Campaign.

Haven Natural Skincare is excited to join the Construction Safety Campaign as a partner. As part of our commitment to promoting health and safety in the construction industry, we will be offering on-site wellness sessions focusing on the benefits of using natural products to support employee wellbeing.

Our Planned Initiatives:

1. On-Site Health and Wellness Talks:
We will conduct educational sessions on the importance of muscle recovery and joint care for construction workers, using our Muscle & Joint Balm to demonstrate how natural products can reduce strain and prevent injuries.
2. Product Safety Demonstrations:
We’ll provide guidance on the safe application and use of our products, highlighting how they can be integrated into daily routines to improve overall health and safety on-site.
3. Wellness Kits for Workers:
We plan to distribute corporate wellness kits, including our Muscle & Joint Balm and Muscle Oil, to demonstrate the positive impact of self-care on workers’ physical health and productivity.
4. Feedback and Engagement:
We’ll engage directly with workers to gather feedback on their wellness needs, allowing us to tailor our solutions and support the campaign’s goal of creating a safer and healthier construction environment.

By participating in the Construction Safety Campaign, Haven Natural Skincare aims to promote not only safety but also overall wellbeing, ensuring construction workers have access to effective, natural solutions that support their health on and off the job site.

We will be focusing on rolling out CPR training and heart health information.

Throughout the 2024 Construction Safety Campaign, we will be working collaboratively with our teams, clients, subcontractors and suppliers, to highlight the benefits of managing our High Risk Activities so as to enhance our safety, health, and wellbeing culture.

– demonstrate the rescue of workers suspended from fall from height

On our site in Midleton, Cork the “Critical Risks” for the site are:

Safe Access and Egress To Work Locations and cover topic on mental health

We intend to to carry out or implement the following: –
• tool box talks specific to these risks
• Ensure operatives have hi-vis clothing to be easily seen
• Install additional lighting for the darker evenings/mornings
• No mobile phone use whilst walking around the site.
• No Mobile phone use when operating plant or machinery
• Radios or other distractions to be off when operating machinery

A TBT stand-down booked for this Thursday covering buried and overhead services.

We plan to check in with all the people on site and see how they are all doing. We also will be carrying out site inspections and working with our H&S consultant to help continuously improve the safety of our sites.

Cantwell Electrical Engineering are looking forward to taking part in the Construction Safety Campaign again this year. We will be focusing on our most critical risks including Driving for Work and Mental Health.
Events across the two weeks will include a full company Stand Down and Breakfast Morning on 24th October at our HQ in Tipperary to address the topic of Mental Health. The Stand Down will be chaired by our senior management and we look forward to welcoming a special guest speaker on the morning also.

For the next two weeks, AM Safety Consultants will be on construction sites across the country promoting the CIF Safety Campaign 2024 by giving toolbox talks which focus on #criticalrisks such as Working at Height, Mental Health, Lifting Operations and Heart Health.

At Errigal, we are excited to participate in the Construction Industry Federation’s (CIF) Safety Month 2024, fully supporting this year’s theme, “Managing Critical Risks.” As a company that prioritizes safety in every aspect of our work, we believe that fostering a culture of safety awareness is crucial to ensuring the well-being of our teams and partners on site.

Throughout the month, we will be conducting various safety demonstrations designed to educate and reinforce best practices in managing key risks. These include:

Working at Height Safety: Working at height remains one of the leading risks in the construction industry. We will be conducting detailed demonstrations on the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), harnesses, scaffolding, and the importance of fall arrest systems. Our goal is to emphasize the significance of planning, supervision, and the right equipment to prevent accidents.

Tool and Equipment Safety: Improper use of tools and equipment is a critical hazard on-site. Our demonstrations will cover safe operation procedures, regular maintenance checks, and correct handling techniques. We aim to enhance understanding of the risks involved with common construction tools and heavy machinery to prevent avoidable injuries.

Restart a Heart: As part of our broader health and safety focus, we will include life-saving CPR and defibrillator demonstrations. Our “Restart a Heart” sessions will equip employees with the skills and knowledge to respond in emergency situations, ensuring timely intervention in cases of cardiac arrest.

By engaging our workforce with practical, hands-on demonstrations and fostering a proactive approach to safety, we are committed to maintaining the highest safety standards at Errigal. Safety Month 2024 is an opportunity to reinforce these values, ensuring every employee feels confident and informed in managing critical risks on-site.

The CIF Construction Safety Campaign was discussed at our Health & Safety Forum and a link was posted on Sharepoint for all Foremen / Engineers to access throughout the fortnight of the campaign.

We will be sending out a daily topic which will be based around the campaigns critical risks, it will be briefed to the workforce at the start of each day to promote the campaign and encourage education to everyone involved. The workforce will be offered the opportunity to engage in the conversation and promote any ideas they may have to promote continuous improvement.

We intend to hold on site safety talks to upskill and refresh our workers in health and safety codes and practices. We also intend to post on our social medias to remind others of the importance of safety in the construction industry and the workplace in general.

We intend to have a number of talks across all sites in relation to safe working practices in conjunction with our suppliers of working at heights equipment, tool box talks will form the most basic element of communication to operatives.
We will have additional awareness training for our pumping machinery, nail guns and working at heights led by our suppliers of these items

During this years CIF Safety Campaign we are committed to carrying out toolbox talks and consultations on our critical risks on all projects.

In conjunction with Heart safety week we are providing one of our biggest clients with CPR/AED talks and training this week. We also provide manual handling and first aid courses/ equipment for our clients as well.

As an organisation that provides health and safety training across multiple sectors, including construction, Safe Pass, AED Training, First Aid etc. – we would like to support this wonderful campaign through our social media pages. In particular, highlighting the critical risks. Apologies that we are a couple of days late with this submission to partner on the campaign, we understand if it is too late to officially do so. However we would still like to make an effort to support this initiative.
