CIF extends its sincere thanks to all members and employees who participated in Phase II of the Building an Inclusive Future survey, completed in Q4.
The response was extremely strong, with almost 850 participants generating more than 47,000 individual responses, providing one of the most comprehensive workforce snapshots in the sector to date.
The demographic profile underscores the evolving nature of our industry: 40% of respondents were Millennials (1981–1996), 22% Generation Z (1997 onwards), and 32.6% Generation X (1965–1980), reflecting a notably young and emerging workforce. In addition, 14.5% of respondents self-identified as immigrants, highlighting the international contribution to Ireland’s construction sector.
The findings provide valuable insights into career progression, work–life balance, and the benefits most valued by employees, helping identify the practical drivers of attraction and retention across firms of all sizes. Encouragingly, a very high percentage of all respondents indicated that they would recommend working in the construction industry.
A detailed analytical report, including key themes and recommended actions, will be published in due course to support members in strengthening inclusive workplace practices across the sector.
