The Organisation

The Construction Industry Federation (CIF) is the voice of the Irish Construction Industry.  CIF is a member led representative organisation, providing a broad range of services that help our members in navigating the political, business, economic and regulatory environment.

The Learning & Development Department

The Learning & Development Department is positioned within the CIF to support our members’ training needs.

While we provide training to external non-CIF members our focus is on developing programmes to support the future requirements of the membership.

The CIF is seeking to recruit a Business Development Executive in Learning & Development to join the team. This position will suit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Reporting to the Head of Learning & Development, this position is essential to the success of the team and offers a genuine opportunity for a professional and energetic executive to make an impact on the success of the team and the CIF.

About the role

This role is based in the Dublin office.  The role will benefit from our remote working policy.  The successful individual will report to the Head of Learning and Development and will play a crucial role in generating revenue and developing new business opportunities for the L&D department.

The role also supports the department in rolling out new products and services for the construction sector.  This person will be a recognised champion and advocate for the department and our exceptional training offering.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure revenue targets are achieved and that the business is run effectively with financial due diligence to the forefront.
  • Manage third-party relationships and contract negotiations with external stakeholders and providers to ensure effective use of resources.
  • Proactively manage all external communications in conjunction with relevant stakeholders to ensure widespread awareness of L&D activity and performance at all levels across the CIF membership.
  • Liaise and collaborate with the Membership department in developing and building relationships with Members and organisations promoting member interests.
  • Sales prospecting by identifying and contacting potential customers to generate new revenue. This will entail engaging with targets (qualified & unqualified leads) to turn them into an opportunity and then into a customer.
  • Managing a sales funnel provide critical insights into leads and prospects, allowing you to tailor your sales approach and messaging to increase the chances of conversion. By understanding where customers are in the customer journey and their needs, you can meet their needs and achieve your business goals.
  • Proactive consultative sales prioritising relationship building and open dialogue to address a customer’s unique needs. This entails focusing the conversation on the customer’s challenges and goals, ensuring a more personalised and effective sales experience.
  • Managing a sales pipeline providing a clear picture of potential overall revenue, allowing you to create accurate forecasts.
  • Nurturing and maintaining relationships with members and non-member companies to create a positive customer experience to ensure customer retention while generating new business.
  • Email marketing by using CIF marketing platform Sharpspring to promote our CIF training programmes effectively.
  • Regularly promoting our programmes on social media channels such as LinkedIn and Instagram where adherence to CIF branding guidelines is paramount to ensure consistent messaging across all channels.
  • Using WordPress to update the CIF Training Website to keep it up to date and current re courses content and dates.
  • Attending CIF & Non-CIF events as a CIF representative to network within established members and customers whiles accessing a much wider network of potential customers to grow our potential customer base.

About the person

  • Relevant academic qualification to minimum NFQ Level 7 or equivalent.
  • Significant previous experience of developing leads and generating revenue, ideally in a training/ Learning & development function.
  • Previous experience of working in learning and development in a construction environment is highly desirable but irrespective of experience, an understanding of the regulatory and professional considerations that impact learning and development in a construction environment is essential.
  • Previous experience in a consultative sale, solutions focused sales role.
  • Ability to operationalise strategic plans into tangible, sustainable results.
  • Detail focused and analytical, with strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • A high performing, target driven individual who is passionate about delivering an outstanding customer service experience.
  • Ability to effectively use CRM’s and marketing platforms such as Open Engage and Sharpspring.
  • An ability to work collaboratively with others in a small team to achieve a common goal. This includes the ability to communicate effectively, delegate tasks, and make collective decisions. It also involves understanding individual roles, respecting others’ opinions, and working together to create positive outcomes.
  • A knowledge of Excel and Power BI.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
