As part of the CIF Safety Campaign, JCPS is running Good Catch October across all our sites.
The aim is to encourage everyone to be more proactive about spotting and dealing with risks. So starting Monday, 6th October, and running for 4 weeks, JCPS will be awarding a spot prize each week for the best Good Catch submitted.

- Implementing awareness of CIF ‘Back To Basics’ topics on sites through promotional materials and company generated posters highlighting key information on each topic.
- Issue teams talks and presentations to highlight key factors in safety and awareness through TBT’s and PowerPoints
- Utilise Hammertech H&S system Bulletins feature as a digital means to further push and encourage communication, training and discussion amongst site personnel. The system is currently used for monthly initiatives.
- Provide site teams with the tools necessary to re-enforce and improve safety across sites in line with topics

Our campaign will take place across all our active sites and is designed to be inclusive, engaging, and educational. A key focus for us is ensuring that every voice is heard, from apprentices and operatives to foremen and senior management. We believe that safety is a shared responsibility, and we are committed to learning from one another through open discussions, toolbox talks, and collaborative activities.
Some ideas for Interactive Initiatives Include:
- Prompt Boards Installed on each site to encourage communication and participation.

- Scenario Challenge – Presenting high-risk scenarios and inviting our teams to discuss how they would manage them, encouraging peer learning and shared experiences.
- Poster Contest – Workers and their families will be invited to design posters on “What safety means to me”, with a prize for the most impactful entry.
- Utility Mapping Demo – Live demonstrations of CAT & Genny use too raise awareness of underground service detection and promote safe digging practices.
- Leadership Wall- A visual display of team members demonstrating safety leadership, with quotes and photos to inspire others.
- Hazard Hunt – Teams will walk the site to identify critical risks and discuss how they are controlled, reinforcing hazard awareness and control measures.
- Awareness Posters- Each campaign theme will be supported by clear, informative posters displayed across all sites.

What we plan to do over the next 2 weeks is the following:
- As part of back to basics, we have a managing in safety, health and welfare at work training session planned for our construction managers.
- Health screening for our employees.
- Two key speakers: Marian Deasy (20/10/2025) who will be giving a talk about the passing of her son seven years ago in construction; and then also Paul Forun, who will be talking to our key works and maintenance crews on asbestos awareness.
- We will also be launching a new initiative called SLAM – Stop, Look, Assess and Manage. This is to emphasise the need for employees to stop, think and plan before they attempt tasks to ensure that its done safely and correct.
